Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
On September 11, we face a VCAT case against the organisation due to our advertising for School Chaplains to be Christian. The case brings with it the costs of legal proceedings, a distraction from our core business and the potential for disappointment.
We know that suffering has a purpose, so understanding this changes how we feel about undergoing it.
Having joy in the midst of trials bears so much fruit. It actually leads us to a place where we are truly mature in Christ and lack nothing. Joy doesn’t change circumstances, but it does change our attitude toward what we face, for it’s a part of the Holy Spirit’s character and evidence of God's work within us.
Being joyful is not the same as being happy. Happiness depends on outward things, but joy wells up from within.
All of us can feel relief and contentment when we have come through a hard time. We can rejoice and praise God for how He has brought us out of it. The challenge is how joyful are we in the midst of it?
We would value your prayers more than ever at this time, and give thanks for your faithfulness and support of this organisation. Please pray for joy and a sense of peace amidst the current challenge, and that God will overrule all claims made against us.
Blessings,
Dawn Penney
